Hiring a Live-in nanny

Hiring a Live-in nanny with Snuggles Childcare will offer you peace of mind as we carefully handpick the best candidates around for our books.  All our candidates hold qualifications and have years of experience within the childcare sector.  We offer a bespoke service and take the time to match the right nanny to each family based on their unique and individual requirements.

A live-in nanny is a great option if you’re a busy family needing flexible and convenient care for your children.  We offer Live-in nannies to families throughout London, providing both permanent and temporary Live-in childcare for children of all ages.

What is a Live-in nanny?

A Live-in nanny resides in the family home and provides full-time or part time childcare.  As they live in your home, it is important that families respect privacy when she is ‘off-duty.’  And likewise, she must respect your family time too.

Live-in nannies often work full time hours, 7am – 7pm, 5 days per week.  But 24hr shifts are also possible, as are part-time working hours.

A Live-in nanny arrangement suits families who have the space to accommodate a nanny living in their home.  A spare bedroom is required as a minimum for the nanny.  If you are also able to offer a separate bathroom, TV, good storage and a desk, you will attract higher calibre candidates.

Nanny duties remain mostly the same as those for daily live-out nannies.  The only difference usually being an earlier start, which may allow for the nanny to get the children dressed and fed in the morning.

A Live-in nanny allows for flexible and reliable childcare.  There is no commute to work for the nanny and with two evenings of babysitting on offer, families can work flexibly.

What are Live-in nanny duties

Duties differ from family to family, but usual core duties include:

  • Being responsible for physical care and safety of children
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and development
  • Supporting learning and intellectual development
  • Engaging in age-appropriate activities and games
  • Arranging playdates with other children and supporting social development
  • Organising outdoor activities and trips to parks and playgrounds
  • Playgroup, nursery or school drop off/pick up
  • Preparing and cooking healthy meals

What are Live-in nanny working hours?

Typical working hours are 7am-7pm Mon-Fri, with two nights babysitting per week included in her salary.  A Live-in nanny usually works full time, although part-time Live-in is also an option.  Another option is to have a nanny living with a family during the week and spending weekends at their home address.

They can work 24hrs shifts for a higher salary, 5-6 days per weeks and travel with you on holiday.

How much does a Live-in nanny cost?

A typical Live-in nanny salary in London is anywhere between £350 – £500 net per week.  The salary is dependant on the specific family requirements, experience level of the nanny, working hours and location.

A full-time live-in nanny salary will be around £500 net per week.

A juniour live-in nanny would be around £350 net per week.

A part-time salary would be anywhere from £200 net per week depending on hours.

24hr Live-in nannies usually earn £600+ net per week.

Other costs to take into account are board and lodging for your nanny.  Therefore food and household bills will need to be covered.  You can have a conversation with your nanny before she starts about her food preferences.  You can then add her preferred food to your usual weekly shopping list or re-imburse her if she does her own food shop.

Another cost to factor in is setting up payroll and insurance to make sure you are fully compliant.  We offer contract templates upon job offer and can guide you through the employment process.  We also work with the UK’s leading nanny payroll provider, who can manage all payroll, pension and tax matters for you.
